amazing work up by Mark Bradford at the SFMOMA.
“Crafting abstract paintings from fragments of the urban environment — permanent-wave end papers, billboard paper, posters, newsprint — Mark Bradford has built a body of work that is richly layered in both material and meaning… Often resembling aerial views, they subtly map the patterns of class, race, gender, and sexuality that structure American life, especially life in South Central Los Angeles, where Bradford works…”Source: http://www.sfmoma.org/exhib_events/exhibitions/431#ixzz1sG2CbfXo San Francisco Museum of Modern Art

I graduated today, with an MFA.

I actually went to commencement.  I wore the regalia, and was so proud even though I only had one friend in the crowd.  I dropped out of high school twice, and this was important for me to be able to hear my name read aloud above the hammering of a heartbeat.

St. Louis Art Museum Set to Unveil Their Newly Restored 348-ft 19th C. Panorama of the Mississippi Eicwe

A new exhibition, set to open on June 8 and continuing until September, will feature the only surviving panorama of the Mississippi River, John J. Egan’s “Panorama of the Monumental Grandeur of the Mississippi Valley” (c.1850).

Panorama’s played an important role in 19th C. American culture and provided the equivalent of a “cinematic” experience, complete with narration. »

Excited I get to see this in person.  The Panorama at Gettysburg is pretty awesome as well, except they made it more of a diorama with sound and some lights…

    First Shot of T

I got my first shot of T at the doctors on Tuesday, still can’t believe it! I was really overwhelmed because I didn’t expect it on the first visit. The only thing that I notice so far is that I feel like I have more energy, like I have been drinking a ton of coffee, and I have an increased appetite.

I am starting on a lower dose for the first couple of weeks, and then increasing with each shot until my first month is over, so I know I am only at the beginning of all of this.  I have been binding more, as I will need to as the T starts to change my appearance over time. Surreal in a good way.
